Start with a data-category list. It should distinguish directly strategic raw data, extracts required for valuation and information that can be aggregated. For price lists, historical periods, product groups or price ranges may answer the commercial question without disclosing every customer and individual discount.
Customer and sales data can be considered through regional or time-based aggregation, thresholds and consolidated product groups. The more precise the presentation and the smaller the comparison group, the easier it is for the recipient to reconstruct individual market participants or business decisions. The chosen reduction should therefore be explained and recorded in the review log.
